Blink was a great band, I know I'm young but they were one of the first inspirations for me to play guitar and I'll always have respect for them. No they're not virtuosos, but at one point in my early life, I was hoping to be as good as Tom Delonge some day and I already remember that. He also doesn't claim to be a guitar god, and has always been a humble player. He said in an interview, 'I've been playing a long time, I know most people would think I would be better. Don't worry, I would have thought I'd be better too.' I don't think lowly of him, but a statement like that makes me have respect for someone.
David's signature black Stratocaster, used frequently in 1970s concerts and on the blockbuster albums The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here, Animals and The Wall, is featured in a recent book by his long-time guitar tech Phil Taylor: Pink Floyd, The Black Strat—A History of David Gilmour's Black Stratocaster.
